Gelatin is a translucent solid, clear or slightly yellow, nearly tasteless and odorless, obtained by prolonged boiling of connective tissues ( skin ) or animal bones (mainly pork, beef, fish). It has many applications in the culinary field, medicine, food and pharmaceutical industries.
Gelatin powder - used to maintain the crystals of silver halide in emulsion in virtually all photographic films. Gelatin powder - used as a blocking agent in immunochemistry.
Gelatin peptone - used in antibiotic assay media yielding low but reliable and reproducible growth level and also in media used for various fermentation studies.
