Amphotericin B Solution is a broad-spectrum antimycotic agent effective against a wide range of fungi and yeasts. Amphotericin B exerts its antifungal activity by binding to ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes, resulting in the formation of transmembrane channels that disrupt membrane permeability. This leads to leakage of essential intracellular components and ultimately causes fungal cell death.

This solution provides reliable antifungal protection against common yeasts and molds and is well suited for use in mammalian cell culture systems where the risk of fungal contamination is high. Amphotericin B may be used alone or as part of an antibiotic–antimycotic regimen to maintain aseptic culture conditions and safeguard experimental integrity.

Application

Amphotericin B Solution is used to supplement cell culture media to prevent and control fungal contamination caused by yeasts and molds. It can be added alone or in combination with antibiotics such as penicillin and streptomycin to provide enhanced antimicrobial protection during routine handling and long-term maintenance of mammalian cell cultures.

  • Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided, as this may reduce product stability and performance
  • The presence of slight precipitate in this product is normal and may be observed if the bottle is stored at low temperature or not adequately warmed.
  • The precipitate typically dissolves completely upon warming the solution to room temperature and thorough mixing.
  • If minor precipitate does not fully resolubilize, the solution remains suitable for use and does not affect product performance
  • Typical working concentration in cell culture: 2.5 μg/ml
