Zirconia/Silica lysis beads for biological sample disruption, bead beating, and tissue homogenization applications. With a density of 3.7 g/cc, these beads are approximately 50% denser than glass beads, making them ideal for spores, bacteria, yeast, fungi, and tougher tissue samples.

Compatible with bead mill homogenizers and laboratory cell disruption systems for DNA, RNA, and protein extraction workflows. Beads are supplied in one-pound bottles. Preloaded 2 mL screw-cap vials are also available. Contact us for details and pricing.

Zirconia/Silica lysis beads are designed for demanding bead mill homogenization and biological sample disruption applications where higher density grinding media improves lysis efficiency and sample processing consistency.

These beads are commonly used for disruption of bacterial cells, spores, yeast, fungi, plant tissues, environmental samples, and other difficult-to-lyse materials in molecular biology, microbiology, genomics, proteomics, and laboratory research workflows.

Zirconia/Silica beads are compatible with bead beaters, tissue homogenizers, cell disruptors, and high-speed sample preparation systems used for DNA extraction, RNA isolation, protein recovery, and general laboratory homogenization.

Listed bead sizes represent median average diameters. Because beads are precision sorted using industrial sieves, actual bead size may vary approximately +/-10% from the listed value.

Due to increased global demand for our 0.1 mm Zirconia/Silica Beads (Cat. No. 11079101z), we also offer 0.1 mm Type B Zirconia/Silica Beads (Cat. No. 11079101zB) to help support laboratory availability and procurement continuity.

Type B beads maintain the same chemistry, density, bead diameter, raw materials, and manufacturing origin as our standard zirconia/silica beads. Both products are produced using the same high-temperature electric arc furnace manufacturing process.

The primary distinction is that Type B beads may exhibit slightly less spherical morphology during secondary physical processing. Both standard and Type B beads remain suitable for a wide range of laboratory homogenization and cell disruption applications.
