RNA Shield Solution is a tissue RNA stabilizer that prevents RNA degradation without the need for deep freezers or liquid nitrogen. It offers flexible tissue handling and preserves RNA for downstream applications such as hybridization, blotting, and RT-PCR.

RNA Shield solution rapidly permeates most tissues, stabilizing and protecting RNA in fresh samples. This removes the need for immediate processing or freezing, enabling tissue to be submerged in the solution and stored for later analysis. This reagent helps preserve the integrity of RNA molecules, making it suitable for downstream applications like gene expression analysis and molecular cloning.

The products are intended solely for research purposes and should not be utilized for diagnostic assays.

Protocol

Tissue storage for RNA isolation

• RNA from animal tissue, plant tissue, tissue culture cells, yeast, and bacterial samples can be preserved using RB RNA Shield solution.
• For better results, tissue samples can be cut into pieces (≤ 0.5 cm in size).
• Add 5 volumes of RB^TM RNA Shield solution to any sample and store at room temperature for up to 1 week.
• Alternatively, once the samples are immersed in RB^TM RNA Shield solution, incubate them at 4°C overnight and then store them at -20°C or -80°C until further use.
• For RNA isolation from samples stored in RB^TM RNA Shield solution, remove the tissue sample and blot away the excess solution with a paper towel.
• For plant samples, crushing with liquid nitrogen is recommended before proceeding with RNA isolation.
• Transfer the tissue  samples to the  RNA isolation solution and proceed with RNA isolation according to the recommended protocol.
