| Description | HEPES is a buffer solution (1 M) that is also referred to as N-2-hydroxyethylpiperazine-N-2-ethane sulfonic acid. In cell culture media, a common organic chemical buffering agent known as HEPES is used. The pH is maintained between 6.7 and 8.6 when 10 to 25 mM are added. HEPES provides extra buffering capacity when handling a cell culture outside of a CO2 incubator for extended periods of time. Our HEPES buffer solution is suitable for a variety of cell culture techniques due to its low impact on biochemical processes, chemical and enzymatic stability, and membrane impermeability. The solution is made with cell culture-appropriate water. |
